Saluti e Baci is a graphic journalism project addressing environmental or social issues and news, in the form of a postcard.
Rising temperatures, less water, pollution and more extreme climate phenomena are already having an impact on politics, economics and people's lives.
This is a call to action: is now or never.

The August Complex was a massive wildfire, originated on August 16–17, 2020, that burned in the Coast Range of Northern California. By the time it was extinguished on November 12, the August Complex fire had burned about 1% of California's 100 million acres of land.

The Red Forest is the 10-square-kilometer (4 sq mi) area surrounding the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plantwithin the Exclusion Zone located in Polesia. The name "Red Forest" comes from the ginger-brown color of the pine trees after they died following the absorption of high levels of radiation from the Chernobyl accident on 26 April 1986.
The site of the Red Forest remains one of the most contaminated areas in the world today.
As humans were evacuated from the area in 1986, animals moved in despite the radiation. The flora and fauna of the Red Forest have been dramatically affected by the accident. However. it seems that the biodiversity of the Red Forest has increased in the years following the disaster. There are reports of some stunted plants in the area.

The Trump administration announced that it would begin the formal process of selling leases to oil companies in a last-minute push to achieve its long-sought goal of allowing oil and gas drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska.
That sets up a potential sale of leases just before Jan. 20, 2021, Inauguration Day, leaving the new administration of Joseph R. Biden Jr., who has opposed drilling in the refuge, to try to reverse them after the fact.

The MV Wakashio oil spill occurred offshore of Pointe d'Esny, south of Mauritius, after the Japanese bulk carrier Wakashio ran aground on a coral reef on 25 July 2020 at around 16:00 UTC. The ship began to leak fuel oil in the following weeks, and broke apart in mid August. Although much of the oil on board Wakashio was pumped out before she broke in half, an estimated 1,000 tonnes of oil spilled into the ocean in what was called by some scientists the worst environmental disaster ever in Mauritius. Two weeks after the incident, the Mauritian government declared the incident a national emergency.

ABOUT
SALUTI E BACI is a journalism project by Daniele Catalli that deals with environmental issues (even if at times it gives in to the temptation to comment on the socio-political), in the form of a postcard.

Sending a postcard had a completely different weight: whoever received it knew that instead a "hard work" and a commitment had been taken. Postcards can be stored, stored, hung on the wall, used as bookmarks.
The project aims to reflect on the speed of news today and on the potential of the postcard as a physical object of communication.
By overturning the concept of the travel postcard, which tries to capture the best of places, GREETINGS AND KISSES aims to highlight situations of harmful human interventions and extreme natural events.

On the website you can order a postcard and have the artist mailing it personally to whoever you want.
Postcards that tell of how the world is going thus become a memory (a past event), a celebration (a victory or a social improvement), a warning (send your postcard to a denier!) Or a request (send it as a petition to your petty politicians).
All postacards are sent every Monday with standard mail.
All postcards are printed on FSC certified paper, made with recycled fibers, lead free, bleaching acids or chlorine.
New postcards will be available periodically.

The third aspect of the project is information. On the site, next to the postcard image, you can find in-depth information on that given topic or event, with direct links to the wikipedia page or to scientific articles.
